Not only does South Texas College offer more than 90 degree and certificate
program options in more than 40 subject areas, we also provide great
opportunities for you to improve your student life, reach your goals and achieve
your dreams.
One reason that students love our college is the student-instructor ratio, with
typical class sizes between 15-18 students. Students can get the one-on-one
attention they need to master the subject area. Additionally, most instructors
are available to students for one-on-one tutoring and mentorship. This is the
unusual opportunity that we provide to ease student transition into higher
learning and ensure student success.
Our campus is very busy at any time of the year because of the many
extracurricular activities available to students and the community. We have
several clubs, intramural sports competitions, leadership academies and free
concerts by nationally recognized bands. From our Folklorico Dance Troupe to our
drama and art club W.I.L.D. to our Opera Club to our Digital Photography Club,
there is something for everyone at STC.
Course schedules are very flexible, with classes being offered at night, on
weekends and via the Internet. We understand the pressure facing students so we
provide a variety of options to make attending classes as easy as possible. We
also offer three options for summer courses so that students can continue
working toward their goals all year long.
Just like at any other institution of higher learning, STC offers opportunities
for discourse with top-notch thought leaders. We bring a variety of guest
speakers to campus throughout the year to lecture on topics relevant and
important to society. Also, not to be overlooked are the faculty. They are among
premier researchers in their fields.
Students also have free access to cutting-edge computer technology and premier
library collections. Others in the community are also welcome to use these tools
and benefit from them whenever possible.
We also know that students need access to consultants in a variety of areas so
we offer job placement assistance, tutoring in core subject areas, personal
counseling, academic counseling, as well a variety of services for the disabled
just to name a few of the free services we offer to help you achieve your
dreams.
